Our summer concert was a great success. See the Past Events page for review Dear Choir Members, August 2008 I hope that you are enjoying the “summer” break. The new choir season will soon be upon us and I thought that you might find the following information and reminders useful. Firstly, “Congratulations!” to all who took part in the Cry of the Earth concert. I have received many compliments from both audience and performers saying how much they enjoyed it and what a wonderful venture it was. The review in the local paper was somewhat edited and the full version is on our website. I will also put a copy on the choir notice board. John was very pleased with the evening and says we should be proud of what we achieved! Rehearsals resume on Tues 9th Sept, 7-8pm social hour with refreshments followed by our first rehearsal of Messiah. Later in the term we will also be rehearsing Carols for the Congress Theatre Concerts. We begin rehearsing Haydn’s Creation after Christmas for the concert in May. The choir year therefore falls into two main terms, consequently subs will be £65 for the year or £35 for each term. Refunds will only be given for medical reasons. Any rehearsals/events which may take place in the summer will be charged for separately. Shirlene Billeness and Susan Winge will be giving a recital at 1pm on Wednesday 17th September at All Souls Church. Your support would be so much appreciated. Eastbourne is to hold a Victorian Festival again this year and The Eastbourne and District Choirs Association, of which ECS is a member, will be providing the choir for a concert in All Saints Chapel, Darley Road, Meads, at 4pm on Sat 27th Sept. If you would like to take part please see details on notice board and there are leaflets on the table. It is good fun and a beautiful venue in which to sin Elizabeth Muir Lewis, our founder and Life Patron, is organizing her annual trip to the Richard Lewis Award finals at the Royal Academy of Music on Monday 26th January.
