John Hancorn has enjoyed a long and distinguished career at the highest level in Opera, Oratorio and consort singing, German and English song, musical theatre and contemporary music. He has performed principal roles with the Royal Opera, Welsh National Opera, Glyndebourne and Kent Opera, where he and Neil Jenkins sang together in Nicolas Hytner's highly acclaimed production of Tippett King Priam. In addition to his busy concert schedule, John has now an established reputation as a choral director, animateur and voice teacher. He is Musical director of the East Sussex Bach Choir and Eastbourne Choral Society and is co-director of the Brighton Early Music Festival Singers with whom he recently directed Bach B minor Mass. As well as having a flourishing private singing Practice John is on the staff at Trinity College of Music, where he has directed the Vocal Ensemble, and now adjudicates and gives master classes in oratorio style and performance practice. He is head of vocal studies at Christ's Hospital School and choral director at the East Sussex Academy of Music in Lewes. John also regularly directs chamber choir courses at Dartington International Summer School. John is now well established as Musical Director of Eastbourne Choral Society and has led us through some memorable performances including Bach's Christmas Oratorio, Stanford's Songs of the Fleet, Haydn Nelson Mass, Mozart's Requiem, Faure Requiem and Rutter Requiem. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
